Why Sheridan Performance Horses?

When I chose my stable name, I did so carefully.  I see every horse as a performance horse.  Not every horse goes on to win the world, however, each horse has the ability to perform at a higher level than they currently are.  Many of the horses that we see each year at clinics, lessons or in training will never see the inside of a show pen, nonetheless, they still need the same foundation as a champion.

As I say at my clinics and seminars, "there are many different levels of performance horse."  I have yet to meet a rider that did not want to ride a highly responsive horse when they were in a situation that required a responsive mount.  While I don't need high performance all of the time, I do need it some of the time.  For instance, when we are at spring and fall brandings inevitably someone will get a rope run around the back of their horse by a calf or another rider.  At this point the horse that is most responsive is the desired horse.  I have watched many "rodeos" occur when someone's horse does not perform at that precise moment.

All horses in training need the same foundation necessary for creating a performance horse.  Using the principles of natural horsemanship and coupling them with the desired training of today's show horses has given us an edge.  Matt is able to get more out of a horse sooner while maintaining a quiet training environment that is not rushed.
